Privacy Policy

Summary
Dante is an iOS reading-fluency app. It listens to reading out loud and trains reading with encouraging feedback. Everything runs on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses and how it is used.
Data collection
Dante does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal data. Specifically:
- No analytics and no tracking of any kind
- No advertising and no data used for advertising purposes
- No accounts, no sign-up, no log-in
- No network requests: the app works entirely offline
- No crash reports sent to third-party servers
The reader's voice
When someone reads, the microphone captures short audio so the app can measure fluency. That audio is processed entirely on the device using on-device speech recognition and is never uploaded or stored off the phone. Recordings exist only briefly in memory while the reading is happening.
Progress data
Practice history (words per minute, progress, settings) is saved locally on your device using standard iOS storage. Nothing is transmitted; the data stays on the phone.
Permissions
| Permission | What for | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Listen to the reading and measure fluency | No |
| Speech recognition | Turn the reading into text, on-device | No |
Permissions can be revoked at any time from your device's Settings app.
Purchases
If Dante offers paid content, purchases and subscriptions are handled through Apple's App Store. The app does not process payments and never receives your payment details; that stays between you and Apple.
Third-party services
Dante does not integrate third-party SDKs, analytics, ad networks or social platforms. It is built entirely with Apple's native frameworks (SwiftUI, on-device Speech and AVFoundation, Core ML).
Privacy, whoever is using the app
Because Dante collects no personal data at all, it complies with COPPA and similar regulations, whoever is using it. The app has no user accounts and no social features.
Not a medical device
Dante is a practice and reinforcement tool built on validated methods (structured literacy, repeated reading). It does not diagnose anything and it is not a replacement for teachers or health professionals.
